Pattern Dressings

  • Hook : 8-12 long shank.
  • Silk : Black.
  • Under body : Lead wire to suit.
  • Body : Natural hare's ear and dubbing brush.
  • Thorax : Two small white or green beads.
  • Hackle : Two to three turns of black hen hackle.
  • Head : One small black bead.

A quick and simple way of tying a caddis larvae is to tie from the head backwards it. It is a very hard wearing pattern due to its assembly involving very little 'tying' as we know it. By changing the body material to any of the different dubbing brushes on the market any type of caddis can be copied.
