Our most recent batch of flies have arrived. Here are some highlights ideal for fishing throughout June and into the summer months.
Wet Winged
Wet winged flies are a reliable choice when fish are taking just beneath the surface or in the upper water column. These patterns imitate drowned or emerging insects and are often highly effective in rivers and stillwaters, particularly during early mornings and late evenings when trout are more actively feeding subsurface.
Wet Hackled
A traditional favourite, wet hackled patterns like the Kate McLaren are especially effective in June. Its dark body and soft hackle create movement and contrast, perfect for loch-style fishing or a windy day on the water. June marks the height of its popularity as warmer waters bring fish closer to the surface.
Hare's Ear Patterns
Versatile and timeless, Hare’s Ear flies are excellent generalist patterns that suggest a range of aquatic life, from nymphs to small emergers. These natural-looking flies perform well in the clearer waters of late spring and early summer, particularly when fish are more selective.
Klinkhammers
Klinkhammers are a go-to dry fly for June, offering a distinctive silhouette that triggers surface takes. Their semi-submerged posture imitates hatching insects caught in the surface film. Many of these patterns include dropper loops, making them ideal for pairing with a subsurface nymph to cover multiple depths.
CDC's
CDC (Cul de Canard) flies remain a favourite in June thanks to their exceptional buoyancy and lifelike movement. Ideal for calmer water and more cautious fish, these patterns float delicately and work well when trout are sipping dries off the surface.
Diawl Bach
The Diawl Bach, or “Little Devil,” continues to prove its worth across a wide portion of the season — and we've restocked five of our most popular variations. Perfect for imitating midge pupae and small nymphs, they are especially productive on overcast days and in gentle drifts. Flashback variations tend to surge in popularity from late summer into autumn.
Other notable restocks
Here are a few additional standout patterns we’ve restocked this June. These flies have earned their place as customer favourites during the early summer window, but many are also worth keeping on hand throughout the year. We've restocked dozens more, but won’t flood your inbox with them all!
