About the Brown Long Legged Gnat Trout Fly

The Brown Long Legged Gnat is particularly successful on still or sluggish water. Gnats thrive in that environment and although they may seem like a plague when they emerge, often in large hatches, on warm summer evenings they are a staple food for trout.

Expert Tip:

Roger Woolly, author of ' The Fly Fisher's Flies', (1938) honed his skills on the streams of Derbyshire.

He was an expert on both trout and grayling flies and throughout his 60+ years of tying flies he never used a vice.
